AAU and CSU collaborate


Addis Ababa University and Central South University (CSU) of China signed a memorandum of understanding in promoting joint research, capacity building, and staff and students exchange program on a ceremony held at the office of the Academic Vice President on December 14, 2017.

Jeilu Omer (Ph.D.), A/President and Academic Vice President of the AAU, provided the delegation from CSU led by Professor Tian Hongqi, President of CSU, with an overview of the AAU.

Jeilu (Ph.D.) noted that AAU focuses on technology capacity building with majority of its students in the field of engineering to support the demand created by the national development program.

“CSU is renowned for its engineering programs, especially Railway Engineering,” said Jeilu (Ph.D.). He then went on to conclude that cooperating with CSU for capacity building in the areas of engineering, medicine and biotechnology development significantly benefits AAU.

Jeilu (Ph.D.) stated that road construction and energy development constitute other potential areas for cooperation between the two universities.


Professor Tian Hongqi also reiterated CSU’s interest to cooperate with AAU on the identified potential areas and pledged to offer scholarship for AAU staff and students to study at CSU.

Situated in the famous historical and cultural city of Changsha, CSU is a comprehensive and national key university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education of China.
