AAU and Embassy of Armenia Hold Talks on Cultural Exchanges

Addis Ababa University (AAU) and Embassy of the Republic of Armenia took discussions towards boosting bilateral relations through opening cultural centres in the two countries at Ras-Mekonnen Hall on the 14th of December 2021.

The discussion was focussed on enhancing multifaceted cooperation between Ethiopia and Armenia by establishing two language centres, one in AAU and the other in one of the great universities of Armenia, Yerevan Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences.

The language centres are intended to work on Amharic and Armenian languages as well as different cultures of the two countries with possibility of assessment of common ritual exchanges since they officially started communication and bilateral relations.

The two parties verbally agreed to work on facilitating staff exchange, lay ground for visiting scholars, open common exhibition, run a conference and open access that Armenia has its corner in the Institute of Ethiopian Studies (IES) like some other developed countries do have in the Institute.

Mr. Artem Aznaurian, Head Mission (Ambassador) of the Republic of Armenia held the talk with the directors of IES and Office of External Relations, Partnerships and Communications of Addis Ababa University.

Though Ethiopia and the Republic of Armenia established diplomatic relations in December 1993, Ethiopia is home to one of Africa’s most ancient and vibrant Armenian communities, with roots dating back to the 15th century, sources witness that.

Yerevan Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences was established in 1935 that produces graduates who are specialists in Russian, English, French, German and many other languages; practical psychology, history, political science, area studies and other humanities.
