AAU Center for Human Rights offers Training for Media Practitioners

Addis Ababa University Center for Human Rights  in collaboration with Sweden Embassy and Norwegian Embassy organized a three days  training on “ The Role of Media on the Promotion of the Rights of Vulnerable groups” for government and private media practitioners from October 21 -23, 2019 at Adama Kereyu Hill Resort Hotel.

As Mr. Aytenew Debebe, sub project manager of project STRACE-CHR, Media can play an important role in the protection of human rights. He said Media houses promote human rights violations and offer showground for different voices to be heard.

In relation to this, Ms. Kuribachew Hailu, Excutive Assistante said the training is aimed to focus on those particular groups who are vulnerable or have traditionally been victims of violations and consequently require special protection for the equal and effective enjoyment of their human rights.

 The training was offered by Sefanit Mekonnen on Women’s Right, Dr. Mehari Redea on Worker’s Right, Dr. Nigussie Meshesha on the Role of Media in Promoting Rights of Vulnerable Groups, Dr. Mezanie Abate on Children’s Right and Assistant professor Aschalew Ashagrie on Rights of persons with Disabilities.

The training was featured with discussion session and reflections.
