Addis Ababa University (AAU), Office of the Vice President for Administration and Student Services, organized a two days discussion on the first six-month performance report of the 2014 E.C budget year in Bishoftu /Debre Zeyt/ on the 28^th and 29^th of January 2022.

Mathewos Ensermu (PhD), Vice President for Administration and Student Services, in his opening speech said that the discussion on the report was intended to indicate performance gaps in the first half and hoped to look for new ideas vital to execute duties better in the future.

As it is difficult to request for additional budget at the time our country is found in a complex situation, all colleges as well as institution of the University need to use their time and budget properly, Dr. Mathewos stated.

According to Dr. Mathwos, as AAU is moving towards self-governance, all parts of the University are expected not only to fulfill their administrative responsibilities properly but also everyone in the institution need to know how to use the budget and how to develop a new revenue-generating system.

Following the VP’s speech, Managing Directors of Colleges and Institutions presented their first-half budget year performance report and there were some who misused their budgets, used beyond their budget limits and lower than their expected budgets accordingly.

Executives from the center forwarded comments on the reports and urged the colleges to adjust their budget handling and some have to adopt the electronic system (IFMIS) application. They were also advised to complete their inventory prior to the 7^th of July, annual inventory, in the case of property management.

Mathewos Ensermu (PhD), VP for Administration and Student Services of AAU, in his closing remarks said that Colleges and Institutions of the University need to work harder based on the lessons learned from this Performance Evaluation Report and his Office as the backbone of the University is ready to support them in ways where possible.
