AAU launches commissioned education program

The Department of Management of the Addis Ababa University, in collaboration with Jonkoping University (JU) and the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), launched commissioned education program: certificate in executive community leadership on June 21, 2017 at the Senate Hall.

In his opening statement, President of the Addis Ababa University, Professor Admasu Tsegaye noted that the project marks a landmark in efforts to increase AAU’s commitment towards community engagement.

“It is unique and instrumental in promoting outreach service,” said the AAU President.

The program offers tailor-made courses supposed to enhance the capacity of leaders in Ethiopian civil society organizations to further develop and sustain civil society organizations through more reflective, inclusive and participatory leadership practices.

The program provides a short term training that encompasses leadership and learning, leadership and working with individuals, leadership and working with groups, working with and managing conflict, managing diversity and practical project.

Speaking on the occasion, President of JU, Mats Jagstam (Ph.D.) accentuated that the launching of the program is of pivotal advantage for the university in sharing international trends, deepening its knowledge and improving the organization’s leadership practice besides benefiting the society in general.

A University degree with two years of work experience in managerial position, English skill and letter of guarantee from employer are the admission requirements.

The program is effective as of September 29, 2017 for the next five years.
