AAU observes Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Day


Addis Ababa University, in a colorful ceremony held on December 8, 2017, celebrated the 12th Nations, Nationalities and People’s Day at the College of Business and Economics Hall.

The day was observed with the theme: Our Constitutional and colorful multi-nationalism for our Renaissance.”

Addressing the gathering, A/President and Academic Vice President of the university, Jeilu Oumer (Ph.D.) stated that higher education institutions are homes for diverse ethnicities, cultures and languages.

He noted that celebrating Nations, Nationalities and People’s Day has played utmost role in sharing experience, promoting culture and above all harmonizing unity in diversity.

“Rejoicing the day in higher education institutions like the AAU has special meaning in promoting culture and creating a common political and economical society, and strengthening brotherhood among the nations,” said Jeilu (Ph.D.).


The event included presentation followed by deliberation session, drama and cake cutting.

The day is celebrated every year in Ethiopia to commemorate the adoption of the constitution that recognized the rights and equality of nations, nationalities and peoples.
