AAU receives books donated by the family of the late Dr Mekonnen Yimer

The family of the late Dr Mekonnen Yimer, who was a long serving academic staff of AAU and passed away two weeks ago, donated 1072 personal collections of Dr Mekonnen to AAU on 24 April 2018.

This donation came to a reality, for Dr Mekonnen pledged his books to be given to AAU before his death, according to the family.

Dr Hussain Kedir, dean of College of Education and Behavioural Studies, received the donated books from the members of the family of Dr Mekonnen on behalf of AAU and promised that the collections will be available in the library for the staff and students’ use. The collections are educational materials in various subjects mostly in Psychology, Statistics, Mathematics, teaching guidelines and manuals.


Dr Mekonnen Yimer was an associate professor of Psychology and serving AAU for more than three decades in different capacities. In the university leadership, he served in different positions. His last post till retirement was vice president for the Office of Finance and Administration in AAU. He served as head of the School of Psychology, Director for Ethiopian School Leaving Certificate Examination (ESLCE), Director for Testing Centre, and Director for Admission with AAU.


Once again AAU expresses its deepest condolences to the family members, colleagues, students of Dr Mekonnen Yimer.
