AAU signs MoU with Walta Media and Communication Corporation

Addis Ababa University (AAU) has made cooperative agreement with Walta Media and Communication Corporation S.C. at the President’s office of the University today, on the 8th of October 2021.

The main purpose of the agreement is to make AAU’s activities accessible to the public through Walta TV channels in the form of documentary and current affairs in a well organized and analyzed manner.

According to Professor Tassew Weldehanna, AAU and Walta started working closely 10 years ago especially while they established Ethiopian Quality Award (EQA) Organization together and this will help them to work hand in hand for the future in many ways.

AAU has many historical heritages and research results that have to be registered in a well secured manner and be introduced to the public so that Ethiopians in general should own them. For this purpose, Wata will be our basic strategic partner to work with,” Prof. Tassew said.

The new Walta Channels, which focus on science and education, will work closely with AAU to make the University’s long history and overall activities accessible to the younger generation and support the Ethiopian development scheme, Nigussie Meshesha (PhD) stated.

During the signing ceremony, it was mentioned that the agreement will be implemented in a strategic partnership to identify the University’s focus points and avail programs on Walta.

The memorandum states that the ongoing activities will be reviewed quarterly and be decided jointly on whether programs should continue, quit or replaced.

According to the agreement, the Memorandum of Understanding will be valid for two years from the date of signing.

The agreement was signed by Prof. Tassew Woldehana, President of AAU and Nigussie Meshesha (PhD), Managing Director for Walta Media and Communication Corporation S.C.
