The Library of the Addis Ababa University is seeking to select and appoint staff to the following positions from staff members of the Addis Ababa University Libraries system using AAU appointment guideline approved by the senate in 2018.

The University Library invites interested academic staff to apply for the above positions and submit your curriculum vitae and application letter with the required relevant credentials to Ms. Fekerte Teffera, Secretary of the Office of the Director of the University Libraries within 7 consecutive working days of this announcement. The appointment guidelines can be obtained from the office of the Director of the University Library.

 Required qualification

  1. A minimum of MA/MSc holder in a field relevant to the position (s)
  2. Term of office

She/he shall hold office for a period of 3 years with possibility of reappointment

    3. Eligibility

  • full-time senior academic staff of the unit(s) concerned (but not registered as a student, not on any kind of leave, and not retired);
  • satisfies the required competence and qualification;
  • demonstrated leadership in administration, research and teaching;
  • served public Universities in Ethiopia for at least five years and the academic unit for at least three years. In some special cases of meritocratic status, the service year required can be compromised with the consultation of executive officers of the University;
  • has no ethical charges, disciplinary problems, misconducts and ill treatments of other academics in a group or alone etc. and
  • relatively well versed with the policies, rules and regulations of higher education in general and the AAU in particular.

  • The candidate should demonstrate, among others, the following competencies:
  • Willingness, readiness, and commitment to support the intended change of the University from status quo;
  • Demonstrated leadership ability;
  • Self-initiated, team-spirited and high ethical standard;
  • Good interpersonal communication;
  • Firm belief in equality of gender, ethnicity, diversity and multiculturalism, transparent and participatory leadership and management.
