Call for applications for workshop participants Working in solidarity with Ethiopian Research Universities: Writing and mentoring programme for Early Career Researchers and PhD students
With the support of the British Academy, Bahir Dar University and Hawassa University in collaboration with the University of East London are implementing a twoyear capacity building programme for 40 early career researchers and postgraduate students. The programme aims to enhance the academic publishing capacity of research universities in Ethiopia through training workshops to improve scholarly writing skills and by creating a mentorship infrastructure. The context is the twofold global concern about low numbers of articles published in highimpact international peerreviewed journals by academics living in the global south and poor representation of female academic authors from and living in the global south. The programme will support networking and collaborative opportunities for researchers within Ethiopian Universities and the University of East London. In addition to strengthening publication practices it will empower women in academia, ensuring 50% of participants are women. Interested early career researchers and PhD students are cordially invited to apply to this programme.
