The Department of Management organized the 16th Executive Idea Exchange Forum and the 5th Executive Day on the timely theme “the prospects and challenges of industrial parks establishment for Ethiopia’s economic development” on December 21, 2017 at Eshetu Chole Hall.

The department organized the events in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme.

Scholars, businessmen and experts were in attendance.

In his welcoming address, President of the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce, Elias Genete appreciated the department for its efforts to invite policy makers with different policy inputs and pave the way for policy dialogue.

The forum, said the President, opens the door for exchange of views on common issues among executives and other stakeholders that can promote excellence in management in the country and beyond.

He further noted that the forum creates an opportunity for dialogue, reflection, analysis, networking and collaboration.

Alebel Bayru (Ph.D.), Researcher at the Poverty and Sectoral Directorate of the Ethiopian Development Research Institute, in his presentation entitled ‘study on industrial parks development: issues, world experience and lesson to Ethiopia’ discussed the economic benefits and challenges of industrial parks.

The presenter contended that industrial parts play a pivotal role to uplift economic development, urbanization, job opportunity and surplus production.

The presentation session was followed by panel discussion and plenary session.
