Job Fair Underway @ AAU

Students Career Development Center of the AAU organized a Job Fair program for three consecutive days from May 22- 24, 2019 at 6 killo (main campus).The program is the first of its kind to be organized. The aim of the job fair was to link graduate students to different employing organizations, increasing understanding and knowledge of markets and utilizing networks of such employees for mutual benefit.

Various organizations and training centers are in attendance of the program. The occasion entertains varies activities including discussion with AAU managements and graduate students, briefing services delivery, productions and human resource needs. According to the organizations needs and plan, the graduate students are on the way of submitting their CV and filling different training forms which are very essential and appropriate for job opportunity.

Dr Jeilu Oumer, Academic Vice President of the AAU, addressing opening remarks noted that AAU’s Career Development Center is working hard since its establishment in 2018 to enhance employability of graduates. The center provides support for students from the beginning of selecting appropriate department which guides students to be fruitful, attain their visionary goals, discover their passion, explore their career options and develop their personal career plan.

In addition, said Dr. Jeilu, the center is working on student’s soft skill training and entrepreneurial skill shaping them in line with the industries code of work ethics plus practical consistency. 

Dessalegn Samuel, delegates from Ministry of Science and Higher Education, on his part said, “MoSHE has a long-range plan to produce qualified and competent students as well as facilitating job opportunities for 80% of graduate students in a span of one year after graduation.”

Mr. Dessalegn appreciated the AAU’s trend and urged other universities to scale up this good practice to enhance students’ employability level. He calls all of the organizations to create strong linkage with universities for mutual benefits and successful works.

Students Career Development Center was established on May, 2018 to enhance the employability of graduates.
