The Confucius Institute at Addis Ababa University is going to launch an MA program (running under the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature) in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL).

The program aims to produce manpower that will be equipped with good proficiency in Chinese language, good capability in Ethio-China cultural communication，good mastery of teaching skills in TCSOL, necessary research knowledge and skills and sufficient potential to obtain a higher degree.

• Admission criteria

To be considered for enrollment in the MA program in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL), the applicant must meet the following criteria.

• Meet the admission requirements of Addis Ababa University.
• Have a BA degree either in Chinese language or in Teaching Chinese to non-native speakers from recognized university or a BA degree in other fields but with effective evidence of good Chinese proficiency (with valid Certificate of preferably HSK-4 and above).
• Have good performance in the entrance examination/interview administered by Confucius Institute at Addis Ababa University.

How to apply

1. Based on the admission requirements of Addis Ababa university, the applicant should apply on the https://portal.aau.edu.et for the university level Graduation Admission Test(GAT)(ends in May).
2. After getting the pass mark of GAT, the applicant should complete application form using https://portal.aau.edu.et and submit academic credentials to AAU registrar admission office( applications for admission to the graduate program for semester I of 2022/2023 academic year begins at the end of June)

The MA program is a 2-year program. In the second year, Candidates who meet the scholarship criteria (selection guidelines will be in accordance with the scholarship awarding criteria of the application year) will have half-year or one-year academic stay in China (the duration depends on the scholarship types and personal interest).
