Quality Assurance Framework and New Policies Enhancement Workshop

Office of the Academic Vice President (AVP) of Addis Ababa University (AAU) organized a workshop on Quality Assurance Framework Policy draft and online learning practices at the Main Campus on the 4th of October 2021.

The objective of the workshop includes validating and disseminating the findings of the previous entrance exams including GAT assessments, online-teaching practices, and enriching the draft quality assurance framework.

The workshop intended to create a platform to discuss and share experiences on graduate program entrance examination preparation, admission, scoring, and evaluation practices, and the implementation of online/virtual learning practices of the University during COVID-19.

In his opening remarks, the State Minister for Science and Higher Education, Mulu Nega (PhD), said, such a workshop is expected to take place in Addis Ababa University due to its ample well trained human resources and time-long experiences.

This experience should also be shared with other universities in the way that the country widely benefits from it, the State Minister added.

Emebet Mulugeta (PhD), Academic Vice President of AAU, said the workshop aimed to discuss the University’s efforts to increase and maintain the quality of education.

According to Dr. Emebet, her Office will work to develop new practices in the future based on the inputs gained from the discussion.

Studies and draft documents were presented by AAU scholars focused on higher education and training accreditation strategy, assessment of entrance exam practices, reliability and validity of GAT initial results, students’ perception of Virtual/E-learning, etc.

Comments and questions raised based on the presentations that intended to enrich the documents were widely discussed in the workshop.
