A new collaborative initiative is also underway with various Embassies in Addis Ababa. The Center is also collaborating with Jigjiga University on research (on migration, pastoralism, conflict, cross-border trade and related issues) and capacity building. The Center has offered assistance when Jigjiga University designed its curricula for pastoralism training. Efforts are also underway to strengthen institutional collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC) and Economic Commission for Africa.

The Center is also seeking collaboration with the Japanese and Chinese Embassy in Addis Ababa on areas of education, training and capacity building particularly relevant for the Asia Desk at the Center. Some possibilities for collaborations are being explored Israel and Iran Embassies in Addis Ababa and other Middle Eastern countries embassies in Addis Ababa. Currently the Center has competed for establishing the African Cluster Center and is selected to develop full proposal. There is a promising progress to establish the African Cluster Center. Furthermore, the Center works with the African Youth Movement (AYM), headquartered in Tunisia and the Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa (YALDA).  The Center has approved one research affiliation with a PhD student from the Universidad de Valladolid, Spain.
