Admission Requirements
MA in Documentary Linguistics and Culture

BA degree preferably in Linguistics or Folklore and other related disciplines such as Ethiopian Languages and Literature, Foreign Languages and Literature or minor in language studies
- Others requirements of AAU where applicable.
MSc in Computational Linguistics
A candidate can be admitted into the MSc program in Computational Linguistics based on
the following major requirements:
(A) First degree in Linguistics, Ethiopian Languages and Literature, Foreign Languages and Literature, Computer Science, Information Science, and related fields
(B) First degree in
- Business Information System, Management Information System, Computer Engineering
- Physics, Mathematics, Statistics and Geology with a minor in Computer Science
- Any field plus a diploma or postgraduate diploma in Computing
(C) Other AAU requirements if any
PhD in Documentary Linguistics and Culture
A student can be admitted into the PhD program after satisfying the following major requirements:
- MA in Documentary Linguistics, General Linguistics, Folklore or related fields (such as Ethiopian languages and Literature, Foreign Languages and Literature) from a recognized university,
- Other AAU requirements, where applicable.
PHD Program in Experimental Phonetics
A candidate can be admitted into a PhD program in Experimental Phonetics based on the following major requirements:
- An MA degree from a recognized University, preferably in Linguistics,
- Other AAU requirements if any.
Post-doc in Experimental Phonetics
A candidate can be admitted into a PhD program in Experimental Phonetics based on the following major requirements:
- PhD degree in general linguistics from a recognized University
- Other AAU requirements where applicable.
