Duties and Responsibilities of the Director of AAU Press
• Prepare annual plan by consulting with the Board of Editors and the professional staff of the Press and submit the same to the Board of Editors for approval; • Convene the meeting of the Board of Editors in consultation with the chairperson of the Board; • Serve as Secretary of the Board of Editors; • Develop ideas for staff training, increasing publication and co-publication and their distribution and acquisition of material and financial resources; • Present recommendations to the Board of Editors and to the relevant University authorities for the development of the Press as indicated in no 4 above; • Assign tasks to editors and supervise their work; • Present manuscripts and assessments of manuscripts and authors communications to the Board for recommendation or decision; • Communicate recommendations of the Board of Editors to authors and assessors; • Endorse the payment of honorarium and royalty; • Follow-up the distribution and sale of publications; • Supervise the preparation of budget; • Enter agreement with co-publishers; • Enter agreements with authors whose work has been approved for publication by the Board; • Supervise book launching ceremonies; • Lead the day to day activities of the Press; • Prepare annual report and present it to the Board; • Perform other duties that may be assigned by the President or Board of Editors.
