The school of Theatre Arts, Addis Ababa University has been producing theatre arts graduates with A Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) and a diploma program during the last 32 years.

Over the course of this period, the B.A. program has been revised 4 times with varying objectives. The first revision had the objective of developing courses which can prepare and equip students to serve the major stakeholder and employer at the time which was the government. The last revisions were done in consultation with other stakeholders from the private sector as well as the business community. An assessment was also conducted of the growing market for theatre professionals in both the central and regional governments.
