Addis Ababa University has run a half-day panel discussion in the first year commemoration of the Late Ethiopian Prime Minister Ato Meles Zenawi on August 19, 2013 at Nelson Mandela hall.
Entitled as ‘Meles’s Perspectives and Contribution towards Building Democratic System’, the panel has featured seven research based papers focusing on the role of the late great Ethiopian leader for the development and improvement of his nation.
Aimed to coordinate provision of training and consultancy services to various government sectors, industries, business organizations, development agencies and social institutions by engaging faculty members of the university, Addis Ababa University has launched Training and Consultancy center.
This new center is believed not only to play a significant role in capacity building efforts of the nation, but also generates additional revenue to support the various programs and activities of the University.
Addis Ababa University, in another colorful and jovial ceremony this year, has graduated a total of 8,817 students in different levels on July 6, 2013 at the Grand Millennium Hall. The graduates are 6,122 with first degree, 2,593 in second degree and 102 PhD (of which 3 are females). 28% of this year’s graduates are females.

AAU confers an academic rank of Full Professorship
The Governing Board of Addis Ababa University conferred an academic rank of Full Professorship on Dr. Berhanu Kotisso Lunchebo of the College of Health Sciences, Department of Surgery, Dr. Berhan Tamir Mersso of College of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture, Department of Animal Production and Dr. Getnet Mitike Kassie of College of Health Sciences, Department of Community Health on its meeting of July 16, 2013.
