Addis Ababa Unversity Libraries has more than 18 branch libraries including the John F.Kennedy Memorial Library.

Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction and City Development Library (EiABC)

The EiABC Library was established in October 1954 under the name of the Ethio-Swedish Institute of Building Technology. EiABC Library is one of the branches of Addis Ababa University Library System (AAUL). It is located at the Lideta Campus of the EiABC and supports the teaching-learning and research needs of the Institute by providing up-to-date and relevant information resources. The now EiABC Library was constructed in 1976 with a reading area of about 767.20 square meters. The Library can accommodate 650 users at a time.

Mission

Library and information services play a significant role in the teaching, learning and research activities of the Institute.  The Library primarily holds library materials on Architecture, Construction Technology and Management, Urban and Regional Planning and other related disciplines. The collections are organized to provide services and resources for all the EiABC and AAU community. The library primarily supports its parent organization, a student-centered and research-based higher education institution through provision of library and information services.

Objective

The EiABC Library main objective is to acquire, organize, provide information resources and serve the instructional and interdisciplinary research functions of the Institute.

Major tasks and activities 

  • Selecting and acquiring relevant library materials, organize and provide access to information resources in print and electronic formats.
  • Providing facilities and services to all Library users.
  • Providing digital library services (E-Books).
  • Meeting instructional and research needs of the Institute’s Library users.
  • Providing internet service to all Library users.
  • Providing Electronic Thesis and Dissertation (AAU-ETD) service to all Library users.
  • EiABC Library currently holds more than 10000 collections. All the collections are organized to provide services and resources primarily for EiABC and AAU students, faculty and staff as part of the Library’s mission to support teaching, learning, research and service at EiABC.
  • EiABC Library opens 24 hours from Monday to Sunday and closed for public holidays during academic season. During semester break 8:00a.m-6:00p.m. The Library has 24 staffs working in different position and working schedule.
  • The Library service is provided in close cooperation with the Addis Ababa University Libraries (AAUL).

 Medical Laboratory Science Library (MLS)

Medical Laboratory Science Library was established with the founding of the school in 1985. Now it is found under Addis Ababa University Health Science Collage with in Allied Sciences. It is located at Gulele Sub city inside Ethiopian Public Health Institute compound. It renders services to support the teaching learning & research need of the school.

Mission

The Library Primarily aimed at to attain materials (resources) based on the school’s four Academic trucks namely:-

  • Clinical Chemistry

  • Diagnostic & Public Health Microbiology

  • Hematology & Immuno hematology

  • Laboratory Management & Quality Control… and other related disciplines

The collections are organized to provide services and resources for all the allied Science and Health Science communities. The Library render services primarily for both Undergraduate and Graduate students as well as the Instructors of the School.

The Medical Laboratory Science Library main objective is to acquire, organize, provide information resources and serve the instructional and interdisciplinary research functions of the Allied Sciences.

  • Providing facilities and services to all Library users.

  • Providing digital library services (E-Books).

  • Meeting instructional and research needs of the School’s Library users.

  • Providing Internet service to all Library users.

  • Providing Electronic Thesis and Dissertation (AAU-ETD) service to all Library users.

  • MLS Library currently holds more than 2000 collections. All the collections are organized to provide services and resources primarily for MLS and Allied Science students.

  • MLS Library Opens 8:00a.m-6:00p.m from Monday to Sunday and Closed  on Public Holidays. At present the Library has six (6) staffs and these are: one circulation head, two circulations assistant and three library attendants (check point).

  • The Library service is provided in close cooperation with the Addis Ababa University Libraries (AAUL) as usual.

                                                   Addis Ababa University School of Commerce Library (AAUSC)

The AAUSC Library was established in October 1943 under the name of College of Commerce. Now a time AAUSC Library is one of among the branches of Addis Ababa University Library System (AAUL). It is located at the Mexico Campus of the AAUSC and supports the teaching-learning and research needs of the Institute by providing up-to-date and relevant information resources. The now AAUSC Library was constructed in 1982 E.C with a reading area of about 1020 square meters. The Library can accommodate 800 users at a time.

Library and information services play a significant role in the teaching, learning and research activities of the Institute.  The Library primarily holds library materials on Accounting and Finance, Administrative Services Management, Business Administration & Information Systems, Management, Economics, Marketing Management and Logistics and Supply Chain Management and other related disciplines. The collections are organized to provide services and resources for all the AAUSC and AAU community. The library primarily supports its parent organization, a student-centered and research-based higher education institution through provision of library and information services.
