The Academy of Ethiopian Languages and Cultures (AELC) will be one of the centers of excellence among the research institutes of Africa in the study of languages and cultures by 2030.

Mission

The mission of AELC is to conduct research on the languages and cultures of Ethiopia to produce and disseminate knowledge on the grammatical features of languages, compiling dictionaries, developing orthographies, translation of ancient and medieval Ge’ez manuscripts, and documenting the indigenous cultural riches of the country in order to contribute to the national and global development.
