The Academy of Ethiopian Languages and Cultures (AELC) organizes and participates in seminars, workshops and symposia on languages, folklore and literature. The AELC runs short-term training programs that target regional language and cultural experts, and that are on specific and special areas such as orthography development, language data collecting methods, lexicography, folklore, terminology and translation as per their request. Other interested individuals and organizations may also take part in the training.

Seminars or conferences of the Academy put in time frames can be generally referred to as:

• Yearly conference on studies being done under a specific project or projects
• Monthly seminar on any aspects of language and culture
