AAU and Institute for Cooperation and Language Agree to Promote Portuguese Language and Culture
Addis Ababa University (AAU) and Camões Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua (Camões — Institute for Cooperation and Language) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish conditions for the promotion and provision of the Portuguese language and culture studies at AAU.
According to the agreement, AAU will promote Portuguese studies through courses, conferences, meetings, publications, exchanges and research.
AAU will Further ensure the logistical conditions necessary for the proper professional functioning of teaching the Portuguese language and culture, as well as the provision of other needs such as the availability of working space and access to libraries.
For its part, Camões — Institute for Cooperation and Language will be committed to bear all the financial costs to run the program, provide scientific and pedagogical support, promote scientific and cultural events at AAU, and consider awarding scholarships with priority being given to Ethiopian candidates wishing to pursue studies in the field of Portuguese Language and Culture Education.
The MoU will be effective as of the date of its signing having an intended duration of three years with possible renewal, modification or adaption in the interest of both signatories in accordance with the legal status corresponding to it.
Samuel Kifle (PhD), Interim President of Addis Ababa University and H.E. Nuno Sampaio, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Portugal signed the agreement at the Office of the AAU President.
