AAU Strengthens Strategic Cooperation with Chinese Universities
A delegation from the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and the Embassy of China to Ethiopia, led by Vice Minister Lin Xin, paid a visit to Addis Ababa University (AAU) and held talks with senior officials of the University on boosting collaborative efforts for science and technology development at the President’s office on the 25th of July 2024.
Samuel Kifle (PhD), President of AAU, told the delegation that AAU highly regards and values the academic cooperation with Chinese Universities.
Dr. Samuel further stated that AAU will continue to play its role of promoting a rage of programs in science, technology and engineering education, including emerging technologies under the Belt and Road Initiative and the BRICS framework.
H.E. Lin Xin, Vice Minister of Science and Technology of China, on her part said that Ethiopia is an important partner and the two have very important strategic interest in science and technology cooperation.
The Vice Minister recalled that Ethiopia and China signed science and technology cooperation agreement back in 2011, laying the groundwork for all areas of collaboration including people to people exchanges, building of joint laboratories, research programs and others.
The Vice Minister also mentioned that the leather development joint lab has promoted the Ethiopian leather industry and raised the technology level as well as brought about the improvement of quality leather products for export.
