Call for applications for admission to extension Undergraduate programs for the 2024/25 Academic Year

Addis Ababa University is pleased to announce the call for applications to its extension undergraduate programs for the 2024/25 academic year. A wide range of fields of study are available, as detailed in the provided AAU Admission link: http://admission.aau.edu.et/UndergraduatePrograms. The application is open to candidates interested in pursuing their studies through self-sponsorship, detailed information regarding the eligibility criteria and application requirements for each sponsorship scheme is provided below.

  1. Applicants interested in applying must meet the following criteria:
    1. Have completed the Ethiopian Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination (ESSLCE) administered by the Ministry of Education and achieved passing marks, as required by the Ministry of Education for the 2012 to 2016 E.C;
    2. For Applicants with a Degree: Submit a letter confirming that you have completed the cost-sharing requirement. Include proof of education, such as your diploma or transcripts from the universities you attended between 2014 and 2016.
    3. For those who dropped Out: If you applied for cost-sharing but did not complete your degree, provide a letter stating that you have completed the cost-sharing requirement. Also, include your academic record showing the courses and grades achieved up to the point of withdrawal between 2014 and 2016.
    4. For Applicants with a Diploma: Submit your diploma or proof of education equivalent to Level 4, such as a Certificate of Completion (COC) at Level 4.
    5. Take the Undergraduate Admission Test (UAT) by Addis Ababa University and obtain the required minimum passing score;
    6. In case the applicant’s results (ESSLCE and UAT results) do not make him/her eligible to join the department of his/her choice, the applicant should be able to provide consent to join the Department/ field of study the University places him/her;
    7. For those with previous four years of study in public universities and have passed the UAT, you are required to submit a letter stating that you have completed the cost-sharing along with your educational evidence;
    8. Applicants who completed remedial education at various educational institutions in 2016 E.C. and passed the qualifying remedial exam are also eligible to apply.
  1. Steps for Application
    1. Open the portal of Addis Ababa University https://portal.aau.edu.et
    2. Click on the Apply for Admission link located on the left-hand side
    3. On the top bar, you will find the undergraduate drop-down menu. You can click on the Programs button to view on the undergraduate programs and their brief description. Alternatively, you can scroll down to the left side entitled Undergraduate Study, and click Find out what undergraduate programs we offer before the Apply
    4. After reviewing the programs, Click on
    5. You will find the general information and the application steps on the front page of the apply button. Once you read it, click on the Continue button to redirect you to the programs for choosing.
    6. Once you decide on the program of your choice, click on the program and press the Continue button to create an applicant account.
    7. Fill out the required information on the Create Undergraduate Applicant Account Use a valid email and phone number and record the password you entered on the page for future use. Once finished, click the CREATE ACCOUNT button.
    8. Log in using the LOG IN button on the top-right corner of the page with the email address and password you used to create the account.
    9. Fill out the required information on the Your Academic Profile page, Click on UPDATE, and then click NEXT.
    10. Select extension as admission Type
    11. Select your Program of Choice and Click on Continue
    12. Upload your 12th-grade result certificate and transcript for grades 9 to 12 or degree and student copy
    13. Undergraduate Admission Test (UAT) Exam Location Select the location of the entrance exam from the options provided
    14. Read the Consent Statement, select Accept, and Click CONTINUE.
    15. To pay the amount specified for the registration fee and UAT test, Click on Continue to Payment and then Click on Proceed to Payment.
    16. Completion of your payment through Telebirr
    17. Click on UAT ADMISSION TICKET to get UAT exam ticket
    18. Click on EXAM SCHEDULE to review your UAT exam schedule
    19. Click on EXAM RESULT to review your UAT results once available.
    20. Open SEE ADMISSION STATUS to know the final result of admission
  1. Regarding the entrance test (UAT)
    1. Application dates for UAT from September 10 to 18,  2024
    2. The university entrance exam period will be notified soon. In the future, according to the detailed schedule published on the university’s website, as well as following the Telegram channel of the university’s testing center, you should attend the exam on the day and time of the exam and take the exam.
    3. You are required to pay 750 (Seven Hundred and Fifty Birr) using Telebirr for the entrance exam and 375 for registration in the regular program;
    4. The entrance exam result can be viewed on the university portal (https://portal.aau.edu.et— Apply for admission) using your email address and password. If you meet the cut-off score you are required to submit your educational credentials in person at office number 203 on the second floor of the registrar’s building located at SIDIST KILO (Main Campus)
    5. Additional information will be released on the university’s websites (www.aau.edu.et and https://portal.aau.edu.et).
    6. The UGAT will be administered digitally using the secure network infrastructure of AAU. For more details about the exam, including exam dates, registration procedure, and other relevant updates, please visit the official website and join the Telegram channel mentioned above.
    7. Please note that the UAT and registration fees are non-refundable. Therefore, applicants should carefully consider their eligibility and readiness before submitting their application and making the payment.
    8. Applicants are advised to check the Telegram channel regularly for updates regarding their assigned test center, date, and time for taking the UAT. It is important to stay updated by checking the channel daily from the date of application onwards.
