Call for applications for admission to graduate programs for the Second Semester of 2024/25 Academic Year
Addis Ababa University (AAU) has opened up the call for the academic year of 2024/25 second semester in Masters (regular and extension) as well as PhD programs listed on the link https://admission.aau.edu.et/GraduatePrograms. Applicants are required to follow the steps described as follows:
The AAU Graduate Admission Test (GAT)
- Applicants must first take the University Graduate Admission Test (GAT) and fulfill the minimum requirement to pass the exam.
- Information regarding GAT can be obtained from the telegram of the Institute for Educational Research (IER), Testing Center at Testing Center_IER_AAU using the link t.me/aauGAT.
- University Graduate Admission Test (GAT) application dates are December 02 to December 20, 2024.
- University Graduate Admission Test (GAT) test dates are December 26 and December 27, 2024
- Follow the steps listed below and get registered for the GAT፡
- Go to https://Portal.aau.edu.et [Open]
- Apply for the exam [click]
- Test Taker Registration form [fill it]
- Upload Passport-size size photo [test taker’s photo]
- Submit [Click]
- Copy the generated number
- Please use Tele Birr to pay the GAT testing fee of 750 birr. Foreign applicants (non-Ethiopian) are required to pay an equivalent fee of USD 50 in Ethiopian birr.
- Once paid, download and print your Admission Ticket required to get admission to your exam hall.
- Follow further announcements on the Telegram channel Testing Center_IER_AAU (https://t.me/aauGAT)
6. The test is conducted electronically and general information about the exam can be found on the Telegram channel indicated above.
7. Applicants should follow up place, date, and time for the University Graduate Admission Test by telegram daily from the date of the application.
8. If a test taker fails to appear on the test date for various reasons, he/she may have to pay to sit on the subsequent test schedule.
9.Applicants with GAT results from the previous year need to take the test again. Previous GAT result cannot be used for application this time around.
General steps for applying to the AAU Graduate Program
- Open the portal of Addis Ababa University https://portal.aau.edu.et
- Click on the Apply for Admission link on the second bar on the left side
- On the top bar, you will find the Graduate drop-down menu. You can click on the Programs button to view the Graduate programs and their brief description.
- Alternatively, you can scroll down to the right bottom side entitled Graduate Study, and click Find out what programs we offer before the Apply
- Once you have an overview of the disciplines and the programs listed, Click on Apply.
- Fill out the application form and pay, via Telebirr, ETB 500 for the application fee using the application number generated during the filling of the application form.
- After completing your payment, you will need to return to the application form and complete your online application by uploading your educational document (PDF-converted,) cost-sharing document, and a signed and stamped form of sponsorship letter if sponsored by a government institution.
- Ph.D. applicants, need to upload credentials of all the previous trainings (BA/BSc and MA/M.Sc. Degree and student copy).
- Ph.D. applicants may need to attach additional documents depending on the requirements of the department or the program.
- MA/MSC applicants will need to upload their BA/BSc degree and student copy.
- Government-sponsored applicants can get the sponsorship form from downloads section of the university website (https://www.aau.edu.et/documents/registrar/).
- Once the online application is completed, you must submit all the hard copies of your academic and other credentials in person to AAU Admission Office, located on the second floor of the Main Campus Registrar Building, Room No. 203.
Notice
- We would like to inform you that you will not be able to complete the registration process unless you order an official transcript to be sent in hard copy to Addis Ababa University Registrar, PO Box 1176.
- Department-level entrance exam schedules and admission requirements for programs are available on the department notice board and on the university website (https://admission.aau.edu.et/GraduatePrograms ).
- Make sure you fulfill the admission requirements of the specific program as indicated in the curriculum of the specific program (uploaded on the website of the university).
- Applicants for health disciplines will need to attach a letter from the Ministry of Health or a university grade report for each semester upon completion of their degree.
- We would like to inform you that programs will be opened based on the minimum intake capacity of the programs.
- Applicants who have attended school abroad should bring Higher Education Equivalence Letter from ETA and meet all the requirements set by the University.
- Submission of documents after passing the GAT is from January 01 to January 10, 2025, to the Admission Office located on the second floor of the Main Campus Registrar Building, Room No. 203.
