Scholarship Opportunity for Masters Study Applicants of the 2024/25 Academic Year

The Addis Ababa University-Mastercard Foundation (AAU-MCF) Africa Health Collaborative Project is pleased to announce a unique scholarship opportunity for the second semester of the 2024/25 academic year. The scholarship is available for health-related Master’s programs at the College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University. Applicants should be graduates of public higher education institutions, attended their studies in the regular programs and graduated since 2014/15 AY. The scholarship particularly targets applicant in the following category: females, internally displaced persons, refugees, and other disadvantaged groups including people with disabilities, rural residents with low economic status and single parents and focuses on promoting primary healthcare research. The scholarship support package includes monthly stipend, tuition fee, support for thesis work, and laptop purchase. The project wishes to award competent applicants who, for the reasons mentioned above, were unable to pursue their postgraduate studies on a competitive basis.

The application eligibility criteria include the following.

  1. Graduation from a public university in a regular undergraduate programs in health-related disciplines.
  2. Minimum CGPA of 2.75 upon graduation.
  3. Ability to request official transcripts to be sent to Addis Ababa University.
  4. Evidence from local government of low economic status (applicable for applicants with low economic status).
  5. Official medical certificate issued by a government hospital (for applicants with disabilities).
  6. Evidence from local government (applicable for internally displaced persons, refugees, single parent applicants).
  7. Fulfillment of the admission requirements of the academic unit for the chosen program as per the application instructions on the Addis Ababa University official website: https://www.aau.edu.et/ (“Call for applications for admission to graduate programs for the Second Semester of 2024/25 Academic Year“).

Additional scholarship application documents to be submitted include the following.

  1. A concept note not exceeding two pages related to primary healthcare.
  2. Two letters of recommendations from academic supervisor(s) or chair of academic unit or former employer, if applicable.
  3. Cover letter/ Statement of Motivation and Curriculum Vitae, including list of research publications (if any) and full contact details of referees (work address, phone number, email address).
