Outreach Community Trainings and Research Sites

Rural Community Health Training Program (RCHTP): The RCHTP is based in Batu and is the main community-based training program that the school runs jointly with the SoM for senior undergraduate medical students.  The rural training program has contributed a lot to the students in terms of undertaking appropriate public health measures.

Butajira site: This site is based in Mareko and Meskan districts of the Gurhage zone (SNNPR). It was initiated in 1986 by performing a census of nine randomly selected PAs and one urban settlement. After its establishment, demographic and health surveillance has continued up to the present date. The site is a member of the INDEPTH network and also serves as a research site for postgraduate training at the MSc and doctoral levels.
