AAU Acknowledges 2014 Publications

The office of Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer of the Addis Ababa University has acknowledged the 2014 research publications.

Retired deans and directors who served the university at different capacities during the last three or more years were also awarded on the same occasion. Researchers, academia, outgoing directors and incoming directors from all colleges and institutes of the university graced the program held at the College of Business and Economics, Eshetu Chole Hall on 19 January, 2016.

The total publications produced in 2014 incorporating the large numbers of publications produced by colleges/institutions were portrayed. The College of Health Science, College of Natural and Computational Sciences and the Aklilu Lemma Institute of Pathbiology take the lion’s share of the total publications making up the first three standings.

Briefing about the 2014 AAU publications, Tasew W/Hanna (PhD), Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer said that the number of partners with which AAU researchers collaborated increased tremendously in 2014. Similarly, he noted, with respect to citation, AAU publications have been used twice more than the world average and exceeded the base line for Ethiopia in Economics and Business, Molecular Biology and Genetics and Material Sciences during 2014. He further added that the AAU showed strengths in the fields of Geosciences and Immunology and opportunities in the fields of Clinical Medicine, Economics and Business, Material Science, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Neuroscience and Behavior and Psychiatry.

Apart from publication acknowledgement, the event also saw the honoring of retired deans and directors who served at different positions in the university. Speaking on the occasion, Admasu Tsegaye (PhD), President of AAU said that the University has shown considerable progress and that the pillars supporting this success are its staff. He also noted that all the incoming and outgoing deans and directors should join hands towards further improvement of the university.
