Indiana University eyes AAU partnership

Teshome Alemneh (Ph.D.), Associate Vice President for International Research and Development and Director of the Office of International Development at Indiana University, paid a working visit to the AAU and held talks with the management on November 14, 2016.

In his statement of intent, Teshome noted that Indiana University wants a practical collaborative framework which is more than a simple memorandum of understanding.

He also pointed out that fields Indiana University excels at – such as business education, informatics and computing, health sciences, arts and science, philanthropy, and public and environmental affairs – can be some of the areas for the university to collaborate with AAU.

Jeilu Oumer (Ph.D.), AAU’s Academic Vice President, for his part applauded Indiana University’s intent to work with AAU and confirmed AAU’s readiness to partner with the American University in areas of common interest subsequent to ongoing discussions.

He further pointed out that it is high time that the AAU strengthens its partnerships with Indiana University and universities throughout the world now that ensuring educational quality requires institutional collaborations.

Established in 1820, Indiana University is one of the top public universities in the world with a student population of over 114 thousand in 8 campuses.

It currently has 330 undergraduate programs and has graduated over 600 thousand students in its 196 years of existence.
