AAU Deans and Directors Discuss on Current National Issues

Deans and directors of different faculties and institutions of Addis Ababa University (AAU) discussed on current national issues at Nelson Mandela Hall today, 16 Nov. 2020.

The discussion focused on contributions the AAU community could participate in backing up the action of Ethiopian National Defence taking to enforce rule and law on the rebelling group, TPLF.

It was briefed in the discussion that the support includes blood donation, professional and item (money) contributions based on willingness as it had been done for Covid-19 and “Gebeta Lehager” project earlier.

As stated in the conversation, the professional support will mainly focus on researching what is wrong/right to run this war, based on unbiased historical background, free of ethnic mentality and distorted scenarios.

In addition to professional and item contributions, AAU staff is expected to celebrate the “I Stand for the Glory of National Defence,” acknowledged by PM Abiy Ahmed (PhD) to be held on Tuesday, 17th  Nov. 2020 at 11:30 A.M.

Conducting peace education from elementary to the higher learning as part of our curriculum was proposed as a long term plan to be seen with concerned bodies.

Professor Tassew Weldehanna, President of Addis Ababa University led the discussion and gave clarifications for points raised from participants.
