Addis Ababa University Approves Different Programs

Addis Ababa University (AAU) approved 2021/22 academic calendar, new MA/MSc. and PhD programs in different discipline fields and full professorship awards at Nelson Mandela Hall today, 27th of July 2021.

Professor Tassew Weldehanna, President of AAU, and representatives of different colleges of the University briefed the newly introduced programs to the participants.

The Senate approved: Six programs in MA/MSc., Seven in PhD, One in joint PhD and One in Sub-specialty; of which three of them (one MSc. and two PhD) are revised programs.

PhD in (Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Epidemiology, Early Childhood Education and Development, Archaeology and Heritage Management …) and MSc. in (Road Transport Safety, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, and MA in Child’s Rights Studies…) are some of the newly introduced and approved programs.

The graduate programs went through rigorous processes of approval at different levels starting with departments and colleges to the top Senate Executive Committee (SEC) level.

The programs were subjected to evaluation by internal and external assessors, gone through needs assessment processes and validation (stakeholders consultative) workshops.

The AAU Senate also approved 15 full professorship awards of different scholars from various disciplines based on different criteria, such as Teaching Effectiveness, Publication, Participation in University Affairs, and Public Service and Professional Activities.

Of the 15 awarded and approved full professorships, 8 are from College of Health Sciences, 2 from College of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture, 2 from College of Developmental Studies, 2 form College of Natural Science and Computational Sciences and 1 from Institute of Bio-Technology.
