“Sex: Untold Stories” Launched

A book entitled Sex: Untold Stories by Messeret Assefa (PhD) was launched on Tuesday 18th June, 2019 at Addis Ababa University’s cultural centre. Honorable Neurologist and Internist, Doctor Abinet Tafesse and Colonel Awgichew of the Ministry of Defense were guests of honors who officially launched the book with the author.

Associate Professor of curriculum and instruction at the College of Education and author of the book, Meseret Assefa (PhD) delivered a welcoming speech and expressed the importance of the book in relation to unfaithful affairs, unsafe sex and the prevalence of HIV/AIDS. Similarly, Dr. Abinet noted that readers would get lessons about the threats of extreme fornication in the book.

“I employed ethnographic research approach. Many of the stories exist in real life. I got all the genuine realities from the commercial sex workers in the city, and I paid them all in return”, Messeret said.

He further explained that the reason he wrote the book in English is to make the story very well known in the world.

According to the author, concerned bodies should help raise awareness among the public so as to reduce the rate HIV/AIDS is spreading. “Advocacy and community mobilizations have been implemented in the role of community participation”, he stated.
